Cut out star and crescent moon shapes from yellow construction paper, and glue them onto the hat. You can also use these hats for centerpieces. Food Fun Food When it comes to food, the kids would probably prefer pizza and hotdogs. But you can also spice it up with Wizard themed items: Make mana and health wisp cookies.
Buy slice and bake sugar cookie dough. Ice half the cookies with blue icing and half the cookies with red icing. Freeze cranberry and grape juice in ice cube trays before the party. Serve a colorless soda at the party, such as ginger ale or lemon-lime. Make edible magic wands by dipping pretzel sticks in melted chocolate, letting them cool, and then sprinkling one tip with coconut or white sprinkles.
What you'll need: Pretzel Rods long thick straight pretzels White frosting in a tub Knife or small spatula Small bowl Star sprinkles edible Wax paper How to make them: Scoop out a small amount of frosting and put in a small bowl. Note: The pretzels will make the frosting taste salty, so only take out how much you need. Save the rest of the frosting for icing cookies or graham cracker sandwiches. Dip the pretzel in the frosting and twist and pull the pretzel out of the frosting.
Sprinkle with star sprinkles. Press the stars into the frosting, if needed. Place on the wax paper and put in the refrigerator to set up. Now you have an edible wand! Gather together two sets of clothing that you think would look good on a scarecrow. For example: two pairs of big shoes or slippers, two pairs of jeans, two plaid shirts, and two straw hats—or whatever you can find at your local second-hand store. Give the first runner on each team a suitcase or bag with the scarecrow getup.
At the signal "go," each participant will pull on all the clothes over their existing clothes and race to a goal on the opposite side of the room or field. The person will then take off all the scarecrow clothes, put them back in the suitcase or bag, and run back to the start where the next person will repeat the process. The last player who can repeat the full list wins. Before the game begins, write a collection of things associated with witches on individual pieces of paper. Fold them and place them in a cauldron or witch-themed bucket. Divide participants into two teams. Decide which team goes first, and have one player from that team select a note from the cauldron.
Set a timer for a minute. The player with the note has until time runs out to act out what is written on the paper. If their team is able to guess correctly before time runs out, the team earns a point.
Then, it's the other team's turn to have a player select a piece of paper to act out. Once all of the players for each team have taken a turn, the team with the most points wins. Fill a cauldron with several red and a few green apples. Blindfold players and have them reach in to pull out an apple.
The green apples are the "poisoned" ones, and anyone who pulls out a poison apple is out of the game. Place a witch hat on the floor. Then, draw a line a few feet away from the hat. Players must stand behind the line and try to toss glow stick bracelets around the top of the hat. Each player gets five attempts with a bracelet and scores a point for each time the bracelet lands around the hat.
The player s with the most points at the end wins. Draw the outline of a large black cat on a piece of poster board. If you want, invite guests to paint it or color it in with crayons and markers. Cut the tail out of the poster board, and put it aside.
